The Central Valley was a region that was believed to be the center of the world. People from this area trained in martial arts and developed skills in order to strengthen their body and soul.
In order to become a more perfect individual through spiritual enlightenment, some of these martial artists gathered together to share their knowledge and pass it down to the next generation. This is how Houses began to form.
Most of the Houses that were established to gain a better understanding of the universe began in seclusion, deep in the woods, away from civilization and closer to nature. However, there were Houses that did not seek spiritual enlightenment, but were created to simply to gain strength and profit.
As the number of these Houses increased, the number of individuals that sought spiritual enlightenment decreased and Houses began forming alliances with each other and with the landlords.
Soon, a large force was formed that was called "the Order" The individuals were gathered from Houses, the noble classes, and martial artists who clung to the tenants of the old martial arts houses. They repressed those who opposed or even refused to cooperate with them and called them "the Chaos"
Those who opposed The Order attempted to resist their dominance but The Order had gathered their forces in a large House and called it the JungMu School. Chaos lacked the strength to stand up to the JungMu School and most members of the Chaos went into hiding. The Order soon took over most of the Central Valley and the Chaos was left helpless.
The UnHwa Exchange was a large marketplace controlled by the UnHwa Guild. They had accumulated a large profit trading goods from the Central Valley with those of the Northern Seas and the Eastern Mountains. This wealth was sufficient to become a target of the JungMu School.
Although the UnHwa Guild was composed of strong fighters so that they may maintain order in the Exchange, it was not powerful enough to resist the allied forces of The Order. Most of its members were massacred, and few were able to flee.
Amidst the warfare and blood, the Guild Master of UnHwa flees with his seven year old son. Dripping with the blood from wounds caused by those of the vicious JungMu School, he realizes he doesn't have much time left. In the last moments of his life, he pledges his son to swear revenge on those of The Order who wrongly wield power in the name of 'Order'. His son, swearing to bring punishment upon those who caused this ordeal from the heavens, renames himself the Darksky.
Darksky, the son of the now deceased UnHwa Guild Master, embarks on a journey toward the Eastern Mountains to seek the legendary ‘Sacred Lands’. It was believed that Cursed Sword and the Holy Blade were kept in the Sacred Lands. These were two of the Eight Great Treasures of the Land and it was said that whoever got their hands on either of these would be able to freely roam the lands unchallenged. With this knowledge in mind, Darksky infiltrates the Sacred Lands and awaits his chance.
Mah of the Sword was the most powerful man in all the Sacred Lands. He sought to use the harmony of the great weapons to balance the powers of Yin and yang in order to achieve ultimate supremacy. Then one day he was attacked. The immense chi and power that had been circulating his body lost its balance and exploded, critically injuring him. Darksky didn't miss his chance, and was quick to steal the Holy Blade and escape.
The Holy Blade was called the Red Dragon Blade. Darksky, as a great martial artist, was able to wield the great weapon and understand its secrets. However, he finds that his inner chi was not great enough to realize the weapon's full potential. He travels to the Northern Seas to seek the Ice Crystal Essence, an ingredient to bring into balance the fire of the Holy Blade and allow him to control it. While he is there, he meets the Lord of the Northern Ice Palace and fights him in a sparring match. Impressed with each other's skills, they forged a friendship and left.
Darksky, more powerful than ever, returns to the Central Valley. He gathers the remaining forces of the Chaos faction and begins to push The Order out of their land. The Chaos, which had been forced underground, begins to see light and their power begins to grow. Darksky builds a palace and calls it the Palace of the Darksky after himself and uses it as a central headquarters for the Chaos faction, while calling himself the Lord of the Darksky. Planning to unite the realm, he continues to expand his power.
Meanwhile, Mah of the Sword pulls himself together from his injuries and comes to the Central Valley to seek the stolen Holy Blade. As he came into the Central Valley, the first group of people he ran into turns out to be The Order. Without any words, he started to massacre anyone who came into this sight. Being under the constant push of the Chaos and the Mah of the Swords from the other end, The Order started to fall apart. One day, five great masters of The Order came out from their hidden training to save The Order. They faced the Mah of the Swords to put an end to his massacre. They fought for days and nights, but in his weakened state, he loses and ends up losing the Cursed Sword to one of the Five Pillars, the Sword Emperor ShinWoo.
The falling Order, united by the Five Pillars: Sword Emperor, Blade Lord, Healing Anchorite, Strang Beggar, and Crafting Hands, begins retaliating against the Palace of the Darksky. The Divine Blades in Sacred Lands from the Eastern Mountains, the Maniacal Sand Storms of the Western Deserts, the Northern Ice Palace of the Northern Seas, and the Wild Savages from the Southern Forests all seek their chance to enter the martial realm in the midst of the battle for supreme control of the region.
Due to the growing power of The Order, threats from outside the Central Valley, and his stealing of the Holy Blade, the Lord of the Darksky temporarily suspends his conquest. A balance of power between The Order and Chaos is achieved and only the tension between the JungMu School and the Palace of the Darksky is left.
